Dear Betty,

We have not been in touch for quite a while now and I have been thinking a lot about you lately and wondering how you are doing.  I really miss hanging out with you and hope we can get together soon. I still laugh when I think about the last time we saw each other at the office picnic, and how you fell out of the canoe and got soaking wet!

I have been working like crazy and the hours are killing me! I am in the process of trying to get a client to sign off on a settlement agreement (which is easier said than done); because every time the opposing counsel agrees to his demands, he wants more and more.  The good news is that I think he is tired of the game and is ready to sign.  Fingers crossed!

Lately, my days pass in a blink of an eye. I get to the office before dawn and do not leave until after the sun has set.  Then, after a long hard day of dealing with minutia, I get the privilege of sitting in traffic for another hour, if I am lucky.  Then, by the time I get home, I am exhausted and grouchy and just want a bath and sleep.  So I can wake up and do it all over again.

I have been working so much that I have not even been able to get to the gym for over two months.  So, now I feel like a big, flabby blob!  I am going to have to start going again if I am thinking of ever wearing a bikini again.  Right now, my greatest fear is that when I do go back to the gym, I will not be able to lift a pencil or walk up or down stairs for a week.  Definitely not looking forward to that!   Also, knowing you are probably going to the gym on a daily basis, no way am I standing next to you at the beach this summer!

What have you been up to?  Still dealing with the craziness of the ups and downs of the real estate market?  Are you still going to the gym?  I honestly do not know how you manage to juggle it all.  I am single with a cat, while you are married with three kids, and yet, you work, take care of them, and still find the time to fit in extracurricular fun.  You have got to give me your secret recipe.  I know my cat would be grateful to get a few pets now and then.  When I get home, he just sits on my bed and glares at me.

As soon as I am done with this project (which will be within the next couple of weeks), I would love to get together and catch up –  maybe even hit the gym and go to that great coffee place we used to go to after working out.  I wonder if that “too young for us” cute surfer boy-toy still works there.   Remember how he always used to flirt with us, and give us free re-fills?  Good coffee and nice eye-candy, ha-ha.

Anyway, I hope we can see each other soon and catch up.

Melodye

P.S.  If coffee is not what you want, Margaritas will do just fine!
