How to Write a Farewell Presentation

Saying goodbye is touching. Writing a farewell presentation becomes necessary as people go through important changes in their lives.     1. Start planning your presentation with writing all the things that you want to say down, and arrange them into a logical order.
    2. Analyze the audience. Identify who your listeners are. The audience will determine how you express your appreciation.
    3. Thank the colleagues who have gathered to wish you success in your next job.
    4. Briefly discuss some of the company’s challenges and initiatives that were existing when you started your job. If the reason for your leaving is retirement, then discuss how the company has changed and improved since you started to work there. Tell the audience how work was performed in the early years and how small the company was.
    5. Express your appreciation for the experience. Thank the individuals who have mentored, coached, or otherwise provided assistance to you during your work.
    6. Recall some memorable events that highlight the cohesiveness of co-workers at the company.
    7. Tell a personal anecdote or two related to the company if they are to the point. It will ease the perception of your presentation and cheer up the audience.
    8. Make a comment about the future positive direction of the company. This will leave a good lasting impression of you on your colleagues.
    9. Tell what you will miss about working for the company. It may be a friendly atmosphere at office, good relationships with co-workers, and a great collaboration of your work unit. You can also mention a light comment for universally recognized conditions, to ease up the mood of your audience.
    10. Advise colleagues that although after you leave, you still plan to keep in touch. For example, participating in the company alumni program, through email with colleagues, or by playing golf at the annual golf tournament.
